Susan Beal is a craft writer in Portland, Oregon and the author of seven books, including Hand-Stitched Home, Modern Log Cabin Quilting, Sewing for all Seasons, Bead Simple, and Button It Up. She teaches sewing and quilting for Creativebug, CreativeLIVE, and the Pendleton Woolen Mill Store. She’s also the historian for the Modern Quilt Guild, a contributing editor at Stitch magazine, and the mother of two little children, Pearl and Everett. See more of Susan’s work, and her sewing and quilts, on her blog, westcoastcrafty.com.
Becky Jorgensen is the designer and owner of PatchworkPosse.com. She started her sewing journey at age 8 – with a stitched sampler to show for it. Sewing has always been part of her life, but when her first child was born it blossomed into her career. Starting with her first baby quilt, then into a quilt block sampler, she found that designing patterns and quilts for others was what she wanted to pursue. With a background in Art at Dixie State College, Becky incorporated this love of drawing and sketching into her designs and patterns. The pencil is always drawing in the sketchbook that’s always open. With a love of teaching and chatting, her site Patchwork Posse has become her outlet for both. Readers from around the world learn about sewing, participate in the yearly Round Robin Quilt Along and share their sewing adventures with others. Becky is president of a local quilt group and is a member of the Utah Quilt Guild. She also teaches quilt classes and machine quilts. Becky has been published in Primitives Magazine, Craft Ideas, and Fat Quarterly. In addition she is a designer for Andover Fabrics, Thermoweb, The Ribbon Retreat, Moda Bake Shop and others. Exploring new techniques, ideas and mediums, Becky is always trying something new and pushing the boundaries in quilts, plushies, dolls and more.
Amy is a mom of 4, and a passionate quilt designer and instructor, as well as a newly published author. Her new book, For Keeps: Meaningful Patchwork for Everyday Living will be out Spring 2015 through Lucky Spool Media. Amy learned to sew as a young girl in 4-H, and has been addicted to patchwork ever since the 5th grade. Her work can be seen at the Denver Art Museum, McCall’s Quilting Magazine, Australian Quilter’s Companion Magazine, American Patchwork & Quilting, Fat Quarterly Magazine, and she was also nominated for the 2014 Instructor of the Year by the International Association of Creative Arts Professionals. A seasoned Craftsy instructor, Amy is perhaps most well known for her popular 2012 Craftsy Block of the Month video series. Truth be told, she’s not quite sure how she manages to find time to sew at all, amidst homeschooling, a rambunctious puppy, and endless mountains of laundry, but she’s pretty sure the secret lies somewhere between an incredibly supportive husband, faith, and good coffee. You can follow along with Amy’s adventures in sewing and motherhood on her blog, www.stitcherydickorydock.com
