Delia Creates is one of our favorite crafting and design blogs. It has loads of fun projects for kids and yummy recipes. But what caught our eye most recently is this awesome tutorial on how to sew perfectly adorable, custom-fit leather baby shoes from a pattern by making a few adjustments. If you’re in the market for shoes for the little one, this is a must-see sewing tutorial.
Baby shoes are fairly easy to make, so it can be fun to come up with a couple of different designs based on one pattern. Leather laces, Velcro straps, anklets with snaps, the options are endless.
The tutorial walks you through how to make these basic slip-on shoes in about 8 steps. Once you’ve mastered this version, you’ll be able to customize your own look and make multiples for your little one or as the most-awesome baby shower gift ever. (Who wouldn’t love opening up a set of these?)
The felt-lined leather slippers make for comfy cozy foot wear for baby. Delia upcycled leather from old purses and jackets to make these shoes, so chances are you have the necessary supplies around the house and can get started right away.
