We’re more than ready for spring-time outdoor dining, so we’ve found a perfect tutorial to get you ready for the warm outdoors. A beautiful Asian-inspired design from the Cloud9 blog, we can’t wait to get to work on these tipped napkins and coordinating round placemats!
We are crazy for the tipped accent on this napkin style, a great way to coordinate a basic solid with some scraps you may have. We love a smaller print here (or a bright geometric!) to fill the small space, and we always appreciate an opportunity to use up some smaller pieces of fabric leftovers from other projects. Make each napkin & placemat a set for coordinated seating or mix & match for a fun tabletop medley. The tipped corners look great for an unfolded napkin, but they also make a super cute accent when folded into an envelope, as pictured. The tutorial is accompanied by easy to follow images and they’re so simple, it will be easy to make multiples in a quick afternoon.
The placemat tutorial is a simple potholder design, adjusted in size to fit appropriately for a placemat. It’s a great project for a beginning quilter, as the basic striped piecing can be sewn up in a breeze. Simple straight lines take care of the quilting, and a curved binding avoids the sometimes difficult mitered corners! We love the round shape, and in the right size it can serve as a perfect accent to round dishes.
