PuppetFinger puppets encourage creative play and storytelling. Use Phoomph to make a stage and puppets for little fingers.

To make the Finger Puppet Theater:


Phoomph, Soft, 3 sheets

Blue print fabric, ½ yard

Foam Board 12” x 18”

Glitter paper, 1 sheet

Plastic embellishments, (optional)

Finger Puppet Patterns



1. Score foam board 4 ½” from each short end. See below.

2. Cut 1 sheet of Phoomph, Soft into two strips 4 ½” x 12”.

3. Peel paper backing from Phoomph strips. Place on wrong side of blue fabric. Smooth edges. Trim.

4. Cover one side of a full size sheet of Phoomph with blue fabric. Trim.

5. Peel paper backing from blue print fabric panels. Attach 2 side panels and the center panel to the scored side of foam board.

6. On the back side of foam board draw an opening 6” x 8” centered in the middle panel. Along the top edge draw a curve line from the center to the outside edge to make a drape. With a craft knife cut out the opening.

7. Cover another sheet of Phoomph, Soft with glittered craft paper. Trace curtain pattern on paper backing. Cut.

8. Cut two 2” x 2 ½” rectangles from the glitter craft paper. Peel paper backing, center and place on side panels. Decorate with theater clip art icons.


Two Hole Finger Puppets:


Phoomph, Stiff, 1 sheet

Assorted fabrics

Skin tone craft paper


Colored pencils



1. Copy puppet patterns on card stock. Cut.

2. Trace large puppet pattern pieces on Phoomph paper backing. Cut. Draw two finger holes in the base of the puppets. See patterns. Cut.

3. Trace head and arm pieces on flesh tone craft paper. Cut. Trace garment patterns on the wrong side of fabrics. Cut.

4. Peel paper backing from Phoomph. Attach faces and arms. Attach clothing pieces. Trim as needed.

5. Cover back of puppets with fabric. Cut out finger holes.

6. Use colored pencils and markers to decorate faces and hair.

Royalty free clip art of cartoon people and characters

Craft foam

Craft sticks

Card Stock Paper


1. Copy clip art characters to card stock.

2. Peel paper backing from Phoomph. Place adhesive to the back of the card stock.

3. Peel paper backing from other side of Phoomph. Attach to sheet of craft foam.

4. Cut out puppet shapes.

5. Attach craft sticks with strips of Phoomph.
